The United States Coast Guard (USCG) medevaced an 80-year-old female passenger from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship 150 miles off Wilmington NC coast on Thursday, July 12.
According to USCG officials, the 5th district command center had been contacted by the crew of the vessel, Adventure of the Seas, requesting assistance after the woman reportedly had a stroke and needed medical care.
Helicopter crew from Elizabeth City, NC was launched to assist. After hoisting the passenger from the cruise ship, she was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. The current condition of the woman is not known.
