Aggregate carrier Daiei Maru N.10 has collided with Nagato Marine KK-owned Ishitegawa ferry, carrying 40 passengers onboard, at around 7 am (Tokyo time) on Thursday, July 26 off Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture in Inner Japan sea.
Both vessels have sustained serious damage. The cargo ship struck Ishitegawa ferry’s aft and ripped a large hole portside above waterline. The bulbose nose of the freighter was dented and breached.
A number of passengers and ferry crew have been slightly injured.
