A Carnival Cruise Line's ship has crashed into a dock on Manhattan's west side, leaving the structure with damage but happily causing no injuries, officials announced.
Carnival Horizon was arriving at Pier 90, West 50th Street past West Side Highway, before 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, when it smacked into dock, damaging a pair of metal support beams and part of the parking level above.
No one was injured during the accident and "impact to the bow of the ship was minor," according to a spokesman for Carnival.
All passengers were able to disembark the vessel without any issue and the accident was not expected to impact the sailing schedule of the liner.
DOB's spokesman said that terminal operator Ports America would bring in contractors to repair the damage.
The Coast Guard said it was also investigating.
Carnival Horizon was sailing back to NYC following an 8-day round-trip Eastern Caribbean cruise.
