Holland America Line’s ms Nieuw Statendam, the 2nd Pinnacle Class cruise ship in the fleet, returned to Marghera shipyard of Fincantieri, Italy on August 22, after successfully completing 2 sets of sea trials off the coast.
The ship left Marghera on August 10 and performed the first set of sea trials over 2 days prior to going into dry dock at shipbuilder’s Trieste yard, where trial’s data was reviewed and hull maintenance was performed. Nieuw Statendam sailed its 2nd sea trials on August 18, making her way back to Marghera on August 22 where the finishing touches are completed.
During the sea trials, the vessel underwent a series of performance tests on the machinery, engines and systems. The yard’s team of naval architects, nautical officers and builders tested the safety systems and maneuvering characteristics.
