American Cruise Lines announced that its newbuild, American Song, had successfully passed sea trials and was currently on her way to the “Big Easy.” The first contemporary river boat in the history of the United States is due to arrive in New Orleans Louisiana during the first week of September.

American Song is the 2nd new ship completed and delivered to ACL by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in 2018. American Harmony, which is the 2nd modern riverboat in the series, is due to be completed and delivered during the first quarter of 2019.

Now that Song’s sea trials are completed, the company is looking forward to the inaugural cruise of the ship from New Orleans to Memphis TN, starting October 6. American Song will sail a full schedule of 7-night Lower Mississippi River itineraries throughout the remainder of this year and will then reposition to the West Coast next year, for American Cruise Line’s Columbia and Snake Rivers voyages beginning in March.
