The FDNY and NYPD worked together to get a passenger with medical emergency off a Carnival Cruise Line ship in New York on Wednesday, September 5.
The Carnival Horizon ship had just left port on Manhattan's West Side shortly after 5 pm when the emergency was reported.
The responders had to figure out the best possible way to get the traveller off the vessel, whether through the air or with a boat.
As there was not enough room for landing a helicopter on the ship's deck, an NYPD Harbor Unit boat had to be used to take the cruise passenger off the liner just after 6:30 p.m.
The 74-year-old woman suffering from chest pain was taken to Staten Island University Hospital conscious and alert.
