Disney Cruise Line announced it will homeport the 3rd of company's 3 newbuild vessels (capacity 3,500 passengers) in Miami FL on year-round basis, starting 2023. It will be the first time the company deploys a ship year-round out of a homeport other than Port Canaveral.
The agreement, approved by Miami-Dade County Commission on September 6, also gives Disney Cruise Line first rights to build a new cruise terminal on port's south side to the east of existing Terminal J, catering to small cruise vessels.
Disney is due to begin year-round 4- and 5-day cruises from Miami FL in 2023, followed by the addition of a 2nd, seasonal cruise ship in January 2024 which would sail 3- and 4-day cruises.
The cruise line is building 3 ships scheduled for delivery 2021, 2022, 2023.
As a year-round operator from Miami FL, Disney joins Carnival, MSC, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean.
