Celebrity Edge is currently less than 3 months from delivery and Celebrity Cruises completes the transformation of ship's design via the reveal of iconic spaces created by famous designers, Sanjit Manku and Patrick Jouin of Jouin Manku Studio.
This includes the spot that will become the heart of the ship, The Grand Plaza, yet another venue mixing modernity and simplicity. The Grand Plaza was inspired by the spectacular days of transatlantic travel. Spanning 3 decks at the heart of the vessel, The Grand Plaza acts as the Celebrity Edge's epicenter.
Guests are drawn to the unique space by a striking lighting feature - The Chandelier, and art installation rising over the Martini Bar to the ceiling 3 decks above. Composed of 5 levels of 765 blades illuminated via dynamic LED strips which change color from day to night, Edge's Chandelier weighs in at 7 tons.
The Grand Plaza is a grand space, home to many of the new specialty restaurants, such as Fine Cut Steakhouse and Raw on 5 (Deck 5); Le Grand Bistro and Cafe al Bacio (Deck 4); Grand Plaza Cafe (Deck 3), and guests are transported to the lively Italian piazzas, of which the 5,167 ft2 space was inspired. At its center, on Deck 3, is the next evolution of the Martini Bar. Adorning the edges of the Plaza are hand-stitched mesh screens that combine more than 13,500 pieces of leather, fabric and metal.
In the morning, The Grand Plaza welcomes guests to enjoy a croissant and cappuccino at either of the cafes. Passengers can return for afternoon tea or a pre-dinner cocktail while enjoying pop-up performances. At nightfall, the space becomes the ship's social epicenter via live music.
