Port Wellington is getting ready to receive tens of thousands more cruise ship passengers.
Tuesday marks the beginning of the cruise season, which CentrePort expects to be the biggest yet, with a total of 50,000 extra cruise passengers seeking out the port city.
In 2018, the capital attracted 82 cruise ships but during the next 7 months 110 are scheduled to berth at the port, with around 320,000 passengers and crew onboard.
Four cruise liners will make their inaugural calls at Wellington, including the 330-metre Majestic Princess, due to arrive on Wednesday, October 3, with 4900 crew and passengers onboard.
The port city will also see twenty-four "double" cruise days when there will be 2 ships in port at the same time.
