Season's First Cruise Ship Reaches Cochin Port Post Floods

The Bahamas-based luxury cruise ship MV Boudicca berthed at Kochi (port Cochin) Sunday morning, October 14, signalling the start of cruise season in Kerala, India.

The Fred Olsen Cruise Line's ship, with 506 passengers and 389 crew onboard, reached the Kochi port at around 6:30 a.m., according to a press release.

Boudicca, which began her voyage from Abu Dhabi October 4, docked at Mumbai port before her arrival in Goa where she berthed for a night. From there, she sailed to Kochi. Tourism Department officials were present at the cruise terminal to give a ceremonial welcome to the vessel.

The travellers will visit a variety of destinations in the State, such as Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, Alappuzha, before leaving for port of Vizhinjam on Monday by 7:00 p.m. The press release added the ship will leave for Colombo out of Vizhinjam.
