Uniworld announced plans to build 3 new river cruise ships, due to launch 2020. The newbuilds will sail on Nile through North Africa, Mekong in Asia and Douro river in Portugal. A 4th ship, which will sail on Volga River in Russia, follows in 2021.
The new ships, called by Uniworld “floating boutique hotels” will be constructed to the spec of line's custom-built Super Ships, and are due to replace existing ships in each destination.
Uniworld also unveiled that it will be upgrading the sailing in Italy 130-guest River Countess in 2020.
The announcement followed the launch of SS Joie de Vivre on Seine River in 2017 and line's Super Ship transformations of SS Beatrice (2018) and SS Bon Voyage (set to sail in France spring 2019).
