Royal Caribbean International announced it will base its luxury ship Celebrity Eclipse in port of Melbourne during 2020-2021 summer season.
The 2850-passenger, 120000 GT vessel will arrive in Melbourne December 23, 2020 for an inaugural Australian season, that is due to run through April 2021.
The Celebrity Cruises ship will first undergo a US$700-million modernisation, that will see accommodation, public spaces and culinary programs updated.
Out of Melbourne, passengers will be able to choose from 7 round-trip cruises, between 8 and 14 nights, to destinations in South Pacific, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and New Zealand.
The inaugural season is due to finish on April 4, 2021 with a 20-day cruise from Melbourne to Honolulu.

Earlier this year, Cunard Line announced that its Queen Elizabeth would be based in port of Melbourne for 2019-2020 season.
