Passenger ferry collided with pleasure boat in Gran Canaria. The impact resulted in several pasengers being thrown into the sea.
Heavily listing Naviera Armas ferry, operating the route from Las Palmas to Santa Cruz in Tenerife safely made it back to port.
Initially, it was reported that fifteen people had been tossed into sea but afterwards their number was reduced to three only.
Coastguards received crew's emergency call saying that some people who were on deck had fallen into the sea.
A couple of rescue boats and a helicopter were sent quickly on the accident scene to pluck them from the water. The passengers were then transferred to Doctor Negrín University Hospital, Las Palmas.
An investigation is underway to discover how both vessels came to collide.
