Police in Aruba are currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred onboard Royal Princess while the ship was sailing out of Willemstad to Oranjestad.
Once the cruise ship arrived in Aruba, at 8 AM on Wednesday, November 14, the captain made an announcement that crime scene investigators were coming onboard and no one was allowed to get off until the police cleared the vessel.
Local Media in Aruba reported that a “muscular” man had been struggling with a woman and abruptly began choking her. Afterward, he reportedly pushed the woman over the railing and she fell several decks on top of a lifeboat at about 4 AM on Tuesday, November 13.
Ship's Security provided the police with video footage. There were indications that video cameras had captured the moment in which the man had pushed the lady over the railing.
Korps Politie Aruba (Aruba Police) confirmed the tragic incident and will perform an autopsy, in order to determine the cause of death.
