Luxury cruise line Cunard announced an innovative partnership with the English National Ballet for the first “Dance the Atlantic” (music-themed) Transatlantic Crossing on RMS Queen Mary 2, sailing out of Southampton UK to New York, August 11-18, 2019.
Passengers on the 7-night cruise will have the chance to meet 6 lead dancers from the British ballet company, of which Lead Principal Erina Takahashi and First Soloist James Streeter. Travelers will also have the opportunity to watch the morning ballet class of the dancers and drop-in on afternoon rehearsals.
A highlight of the voyage are the spectacular performances in the Royal Court Theater, including extracts from the all-time classic Swan Lake, the contemporary work Dust and the visual Le Corsaire.
In another first, dance workshops are due to run daily throughout the week at sea, with a special opportunity for passengers to learn from English National Ballet associates. Insight talks will be featured as well, offering understanding of the dedication of the dancer’s life, along with themed films and documentaries throughout the journey.
