Carnival Panorama, the new Carnival Cruise Line's ship, was launched today, December 6, at Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera (near Venice Italy). Due to start are interior fittings, leading the vessel to its delivery, scheduled in autumn 2019.
Panorama's launching was introduced via traditional “coin ceremony”, consisting of welding a silver dollar on the ship's last deck. Godmother of the official ceremony was Antonella Cazzin, Fincantieri’s shipyard employee in Marghera for over 35 years.
The coin ceremony was attended by Ben Clement, Carnival's Senior Vice President, Marco Scaramuccia, Project Manager of Panorama, and Antonio Quintano, Director of Marghera shipyard.
The newbuild will be a sistership of the Marghera-built liners Carnival Vista (delivered in April 2016) and Carnival Horizon (delivered in March 2018).
In addition to Carnival Panorama, Marghera shipyard has in its order book the 2nd ship for Costa Asia brand and the 3rd “Pinnacle” class unit for Holland America, due to be delivered in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
