Port of Galveston welcomed its 10 millionth cruise passenger to embark from port’s terminal on Sunday, December 9. The port started cruise operations in 2000.
The 10 millionth passenger was Yingtao Liu. He drove from Norman, OK together with his parents, wife, and 3 kids. Upon checking in for the cruise he and his family were informed they were the 10 millionth passenger Galveston port's CEO Rodger Rees.
Pavol Drimaj, Carnival Vista Hotel Director, as well as other cruise line's representatives were on hand to welcome Mr. Lui and his family who were embarking on their first cruise vacation ever.
To celebrate the milestone, Port of Galveston, Galveston Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, Carnival Cruise Line and Island Bay Resort contributed a number of gifts to the lucky family. These included a 3-night stay at Island Bay Resort, bountiful basket with delicious treats, specially designed gift bag of Galveston swag from CVB, and a beach bag full of vacation essentials from Carnival to mark the occasion. The cruise company also extended onboard courtesies as well as VIP treatment during the week-long voyage.
