New York City area is due to become the home to one of the largest cruise ships in the world.
Royal Caribbean revealed that its 18-deck Oasis of the Seas starts sailing from homeport NYC (Port Cape Liberty, Bayonne New Jersey), in May 2020.
Line's 5,400-passenger ship is due to operate 7-night cruises to the Bahamas out of Bayonne through 2020 summer, with visits to Port Canaveral, Nassau, CocoCay. On August 1, she sails on an 8-night trip adding Miami FL.
Oasis also offers a number of shorter voyages north to Canada and New England. On June 21 she sails on a 6-night voyage to Portland ME, St John NB and Halifax NS.
Oasis OTS is world's 4th-largest cruise ship and the biggest passenger vessel ever homeported in New York. Oasis is scheduled to arrive to Cape Liberty May 6, 2020 and stay through October 25, 2020. The liner returns to Florida November 4, 2020.
Ship 2020 homeport Cape Liberty Cruise Port is located just south of Statue of Liberty (along NJ side of Upper New York Bay, aka New York Harbor).
Currently, Oasis OTS spends the winters in Caribbean leaving from homeport Port Canaveral FL. Summer 2019 is in Europe (Mediterranean) leaving from homeport Barcelona.
