A Royal Caribbean ship that was forced to change itinerary due to storms rescued a couple of sailors on Friday, December 21, who had been stranded at sea for twenty days.
Royal Caribbean’s Empress of the Seas which departed from Miami FL on December 17 was cruising between Grand Cayman and Jamaica as part of her storm-impacted itinerary.
Crew members who were operating the radar system for Empress OTS noticed the anomaly which turned out to be a fishing boat floating in the water. The cruise company called for emergency rescue and pulled the two sailors who had been stranded for twenty days out of the water.
Empress OTS is due to return to Miami FL today, December 23, after calls to George Town, Cienfuegos, and Havana.
