A new cruise ship promoted as one of the most luxurious in the world, complete with a submarine and helicopters for use by its passengers, is scheduled to dock at Port of Charleston in 2019.
Scenic Eclipse is due to pull into Union Pier Terminal on October 6 as part of her 10-day voyage that departs New York September 29 and visits Nassau, Bahamas on October 8.
The voyage is expected to “trace U.S. history from the arrival of the British through the American Revolution.” Prices range between US$6,995-US$27,695 per passenger.
The US$230 million Scenic Eclipse was scheduled to launch in January but delays at the shipyard where it’s currently being built pushed the first trip to April.
The Eclipse yacht is designed to accommodate just 228 passengers in 114 all-veranda suites with 1-to-1 guest-to-staff ratio.
Scenic Eclipse, which is dubbed a “luxury discovery yacht,” will have 2 helicopters and a 6-seater sub named Scenic Neptune, allowing travelers to get close-up views of the ruins in Greece, reef life in the Caribbean and seals, walruses and penguins in clear polar waters.
