Chantiers de l’Atlantique and MSC Cruises celebrated the float out of line's MSC Grandiosa at the shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where the new ship is currently under construction, and was moved to a wet dock, where work is due to continue through the delivery in October 2019.
MSC Grandiosa will be the 3rd Meraviglia-class ship to enter the fleet of MSC Cruises, and the first of 3 Meraviglia-Plus vessels, which feature bigger tonnage and passenger capacity than the first pair of Meraviglia vessels, MSC Meraviglia and MSC Bellissima. Grandiosa will also become the 5th ship to enter the fleet in two and a half years.
The cruise company is due to take delivery of another 14 next-generation ships, including Bellissima and Grandiosa, by 2027.
MSC Grandiosa will be delivered on October 31. The ship will start regular service from Genoa on November 16. Bookings for its cruises are already open.
