MSC Cruises signed a non-binding letter of intent with PortMiami to expand a previously proposed cruise ship terminal development.
The original project's scope was expanded to ensure that the future cruise terminal will be able to accommodate a pair of large ships simultaneously, the company revealed.
MSC Cruises is expected to build and operate the cruise terminal and associated parking, that was designated in the initial plan for a site east of Royal Caribbean's newly opened Terminal A.
The agreement was signed in Geneva by MSC Group chairman Gianluigi Aponte and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
MSC Cruises ships in Miami FL currently sail from Terminal F, that was renovated for the cruise line in late 2017. The new terminal is due to be ready in 2022.
