Princess Cruises passengers aboard Diamond Princess can now enjoy a refreshed atmosphere following a 14-day, multimillion-dollar refurbishment in Singapore, continuing the “Come Back New Promise” commitment of the cruise line focused on investing over US$450 million across the fleet.
Enhanced offerings on Diamond Princess include major upgrades for the Movies Under The Stars giant screen with updated 7.1 surround sound digital audio along with pool deck LED lighting enhancements for a colorful entertainment experience.
The casino was outfitted with new carpet, flat-screen TVs, and light fixtures. At The Lotus Spa & Fitness Center, the treatment rooms and salon were upgraded with the latest Precor fitness equipment.
Further refurbishments consist of an upgraded digital audio system for the Explorers Lounge, Club Fusion, and Princess Theatre, along with new furnishings in Horizon Court buffet area. Japanese bidets were added in the public restrooms and the suites.
This is the 7th season Princess has offered homeport cruises from Kobe and Yokohama that bring passengers to far-flung Japanese destinations, not easily accessed by land. Travelers are able to enjoy the itineraries allowing for the exploration of spring flowers, summer festivals, and fall foliage.
Cruise tour options were introduced in 2019 to allow passengers to combine their vacation with more time on land. The 13-20-night cruise tour packages offer land tours with voyages visiting iconic cities like Tokyo and Kyoto.
Following the Singapore dry dock, Diamond Princess embarked on a 12-night cruise to Phu My, Nha Trang, Taipei, Osaka, Hong Kong, and Shimizu (Mount Fuji) prior to returning to Yokohama for ship's 2019 Japan cruise season with 60 departures on 40 itineraries, visiting 41 destinations in 7 countries.
