Disney Cruise Line will become one of a few companies to help fund a new cruise berthing facility and cargo dock in George Town (Grand Cayman Island).
Disney along with Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean will finance the new pier project. Walt Disney is the most recent addition to the plan with the other two companies being unveiled in December 2018.
No public money will be used to build new facilities.
Details regarding the financial contributions have not been announced.
Cruise lines financiers and selected bidders will provide the funds to construct the berthing facility and cargo dock. Over the next 20 years, they will collect passenger fees.
The project is estimated to bring in a total of 500 construction jobs as well as decades of employment and about US$245 million in economic benefits.
