Today, February 28, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, Costa Cruises officially took delivery of its newest ship, Costa Venezia, company’s first vessel designed specifically for the Chinese market.
With a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons, a capacity for more than 5,200 guests, and 323 meters in length, Costa Venezia is the largest ship introduced by Costa to the cruise market in China, where the Italian cruise line is currently the leader and was the first to start operating in 2006.
The naming ceremony for Costa Venezia is planned for March 1 in Trieste, Italy, with an air show by “Frecce Tricolori” acrobatic team as well as a firework display involving the city.
The maiden voyage will depart from Trieste on March 3, bound for Greece and Croatia.
