Marking the first time in the history of the cruise line, Princess Cruises introduced a new French restaurant to North American passengers. La Mer by Three-Michelin Star Chef, Emmanuel Renaut, will debut onboard the line's next newbuild Sky Princess, which is scheduled to arrive in Fort Lauderdale FL in December 2019 for an inaugural season of Caribbean voyages.
Chef Renaut is the owner and executive chef of Flocons de Sel restaurant, situated in the French Alps village of Megeve. In 2012, Flocons de Sel received a 3rd Michelin star, having earned its first in 2004 and the 2nd one in 2006.
La Mer is due to offer casual, French bistro-style dining with a contemporary twist inspired by the flavors of the French Alps and contrasts from the ocean. The new specialty restaurant will be situated in the Sky Princess atrium. It first debuted on Majestic Princess in 2017 while the vessel was based in China.
La Mer carries a cover charge of US$35 per person. The specialty restaurant will also debut on the cruise line's next ship, Enchanted Princess, in summer 2020.
