Seabourn announced that it will name its first new expedition ship - Seabourn Venture. This way, the cruise company is paying tribute to the remote destinations that are visited by the successful expedition and Ventures by Seabourn excursion programs as well as the fascinating spots yet to be explored in the future.
Seabourn started offering expedition experiences during the brand's first sailing to Antarctica back in 2013 which was led by a world-class expedition team. The success of Seabourn's Antarctica program opened the door for similar experiences under the name Ventures by Seabourn which feature guided hikes, kayaks, and Zodiacs offered on the line's ships in a number of destinations around the globe, such as Alaska, South America, Northern Europea, Australia, and New Zealand.
Seabourn Venture is due to launch in June 2021, with a 2nd yet-to-be-named sistership scheduled to launch in May 2022. Both vessels will be designed and constructed for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards and will feature modern hardware and technology extending their global deployment and capabilities.
The new cruise ships, that are being built by T. Mariotti, are expected to be an innovative design, created specifically for ultra-luxury expedition travellers, and will include a lot of features that have made Seabourn's fleet so successful. A new offering will be a pair of custom-built submarines onboard, providing an exciting view of the world beneath the surface of the ocean. The vessels will also be designed to carry kayaks and 24 Zodiacs which can accommodate all passengers at once. Each ship will have 132 luxurious oceanview veranda suites.
More details of the newbuilds and their interior spaces and itineraries will be released in the near future. The first ship is planned to sail in the Arctic in late summer of 2021, with a summer season in Antarctica to follow.
