Carnival Cruise Line announced that the Carnival Sunrise's godmother will be the daughter of chairman Micky Arison, Kelly Arison.
The Sunrise ship, currently Carnival Triumph, will be officially christened at an invitation-only ceremony in New York City on May 23 following a lengthy refurbishment.
The Carnival Triumph was christened by Kelly Arison's mother, Madeleine Arison when the vessel entered service in 1999.
The christening ceremony will take place onboard the ship at Manhattan Cruise Passenger Terminal and will serve as the platform to heighten awareness of the work of Ehlers-Danlos Society, an organization dedicated to serving people with joint hypermobility spectrum disorders, of which Kelly is an advocate.
