Viking Cruises and China Merchants Group unveiled a plan to launch a new cruise line for Chinese passengers. China Merchants Group's shipbuilding subsidiary companies will partner with the joint venture in order to design and construct the new ocean cruise vessels.
Viking's Chairman Torstein Hagen shared he aimed to "bring the Viking travel lifestyle to more Chinese travellers more quickly, satisfying the Chinese market's unmet demand for a greater choice of sophisticated travel."
Currently, Viking operates a fleet of 6 ocean liners and 72 riverboats.
