Genting Cruise Lines welcomed Dream Cruises’ fleet's 3rd vessel via the official christening and inaugural homeport deployment of Explorer Dream in Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.
The arrival of the first newly-launched cruise vessel of the post-recalibration period in the cruise industry of China marks the debut of Dream Cruises in Eastern China, with Explorer Dream purposely-built and recently drydock refurbished for the Asian and Chinese market.
Dream Cruises’ first 200,000 GT Global Class ship, due to debut in 2021, will also celebrate an inaugural deployment in Shanghai as the biggest cruise ship to be homeported in the Asia-Pacific.
The naming ceremony featured the godmother of Explorer Dream, Ms Grace Chen, who is one of the most influential Chinese fashion designers. The christening was activated by Chen's magic wand of dreams and aspirations. A majestic unicorn symbolized the spirit of exploration and led the iconic mermaid of Dream Cruises out of the ocean and to discover new horizons. With the traditional breaking of the bottle of champagne against the bow of the vessel, Explorer Dream officially started her journey with Dream Cruises.
