Carnival Cruise Line gave one of its ships a US$200 million drydock upgrade which includes a new name for the ship.
For the past couple of months, Carnival Triumph was in dry dock in Cadiz Spain receiving a complete makeover. The vessel emerged from drydock under the new name Carnival Sunrise and is now on its way back to the USA.
The enhancements include the redesign of a pair of Captain’s Suites adjacent to the bridge that offer floor-to-ceiling windows. All of the staterooms were updated with island-inspired interiors in bright colours and soothing pastels.
New features added to the cruise ship include:
- New Outdoor Areas: SportSquare, WaterWorks, Serenity Adult Only Retreat.
- Food and Restaurants: Cucina del Capitano, JavaBlue Cafe, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Bonsai Express, The Chef’s Table, Cherry on Top, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, Lido Marketplace.
- New Bars and Lounges: RedFrog Pub, Piano Bar 88, Limelight Lounge, New Multi-Purpose Liquid Lounge.
Following several months of voyages from NYC and Norfolk, the ship is due to repositioning to Fort Lauderdale FL for 4- and 5-day itineraries beginning on October 28, 2019.
