In conjunction with Genting Cruise Lines' 25th Anniversary and also in recognition of World Wish Day on April 29, an annual day that celebrates the granting of life-changing wishes to kids with critical illnesses, Genting Cruise Lines announced its collaboration and commitment to Make-A-Wish International via the launch of Make-A-Wish @ Sea fund-raising campaign across Genting Cruise Line's fleet in the region.
As part of the campaign, Genting donated US$125,000 worth of cabins to Make-A-Wish International to be used for various fund-raising initiatives in support of granting of wishes for kids battling critical illnesses as well as undergoing medical treatments in Asia.
Passengers sailing aboard any of Star Cruises’ and Dream Cruises’ ships can take part in the Make-A-Wish @ Sea initiative through a donation while on their journey.
Genting Cruise Lines was also part of a Wish Child’s dream to take a voyage with his family. The 6-year-old Aqil Naufal bin Zulkipli from Malaysia, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, experienced a 3-night Phuket/Penang round-trip cruise with Star Cruises on SuperStar Gemini, which departed from Port Klang on April 19. Naufal, together with his 3 siblings and parents, enjoyed the sailing with a special tour of the bridge and met Capt. Jörgen Holmberg.
