A cruise ship sailing into Canada Place, Vancouver Harbour on Saturday, May 4, collided with another ship of the same cruise company while berthing.
A statement from Holland America Line, which owns both ms Oosterdam and ms Nieuw Amsterdam involved, says the vessels "rubbed against each other while docking stern to stern."
MS Oosterdam hit the rear of the berthed ms Nieuw Amsterdam. MS Oosterdam sustained a long scratch on her starboard stern. Six stateroom verandas on ms Nieuw Amsterdam were damaged.
No one was hurt during the accident. Repairs are underway but all required are well above the water line and seaworthiness of both cruise ships was not affected.
Holland America said ms Oosterdam was set to sail overnight to Seattle WA, while Nieuw Amsterdam left on a 7-day Alaskan voyage and neither schedules were delayed. All appropriate authorities have been notified about the accident.
