Boutique cruise line Aqua Expeditions announced two new additions to its fleet named Aqua Blu and Aqua Nera. Aqua Nera is due to take passengers deep into the Peruvian Amazon, while Aqua Blu is planned to sail through the East Indonesian Archipelago as the first ever coastal ship of the cruise line.
As in all Aqua Expeditions ships, the new additions feature tailored 5-star itineraries, an exclusive 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio, expert-guided adventure excursions, and world-class cuisine.
Aqua Blu, which is the work of renowned yacht designer Cor D Rover BV, has been completely refurbished but still upholds a heritage as former British Naval Explorer "HMS Beagle". Scheduled to begin service in November, she is the first coastal ship of Aqua Expeditions and the first long-range expedition-class yacht to be based permanently in the East Indonesian archipelago.
Aqua Blu, joining the fleet in November 2019, will be departing year-round, primarily serving 3 destinations on 7-night coastal itineraries, including:
- Raja Ampat (from December through February; ten departures per year)
- Bali-Komodo NP (from April through September; 23 departures per year)
- Ambon & Spice Islands/Malukus (from October through November; 7 departures per year).
Passengers will be able to traverse the global spice trade route as well as discover some of the best diving and snorkeling sites in the Coral Triangle, and tropical islands where culture, old traditions, and wildlife thrive. With 15 sea-facing suites across 3 luxurious cabin grades, Aqua Blu boasts with technologically advanced stabilizers in order to ensure smooth sailing. Onboard, guests can take advantage of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, diving and snorkeling gear, certified dive guides, an outdoor plunge pool and spa. Limited 12-night itineraries are available with 4 departures per year, each featuring a different route. Rates for 7- and 12-night Aqua Blu cruises range between US$7,525-US$16,475 per person, double occupancy.
Aqua Nera, joining the fleet in August 2020, is expected to become the most state-of-the-art river ship to sail in the Peruvian Amazon and Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. Designed by Noor, the luxuriously appointed interiors have drawn inspiration from the lush surroundings and boast dark, sustainably sourced wood. The design philosophy continues across the 20 river-facing suites and public spaces including the lounge, restaurant, gym, spa, and plunge pool.
By continuing the partnership with renowned Peruvian chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, Aqua Expeditions delivers a sustainable menu which emphasizes fresh ingredients and local produce. The sprawling balconies feature the perfect viewpoint to observe the Amazon Rainforest’s mammal, bird, reptile, and amphibian species.
Aqua Nera is scheduled to enter service in July 2020. The vessel will offer 3-, 4- and 7-night river cruise itineraries with prices ranging between US$4,125 to US$10,325 per person, double occupancy.
