On Friday, May 17, Portland UK again welcomed a ship of AIDA Cruises. On her inaugural call, AIDAura was welcomed to the port. Launched in 2003, the vessel is one of the smallest in the fleet. The 42,289 GT, 1300-passenger AIDAura was the 3rd vessel to join the cruise line.
Having her sistership AIDAvita return to Portland on Monday, May 20, and then having the inaugural call of AIDAura from the same cruise line during the same week was unique.
Portland Port has in total eight AIDA ship calls scheduled in 2019, of which another inaugural cruise of AIDAcara later in 2019. This marks a major point in the development of Portland’s cruise business and shows the support the Port is being given by AIDA Cruises.
The Port has 17 German ships coming in this season and this fact shows the attractiveness of the region to German cruisers.
