A 19-year-old passenger of Carnival Fascination jumped overboard on Sunday, May 19, while the ship was sailing in the Caribbean on her way to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The man was lucky to be saved due to the good weather and calm sea.
There are controversial reports about the circumstances of the accident. If the 19-year-old deliberately jumped, he must expect appropriate sanctions by Carnival. The young man swam in the water and called desperately for help. The ship immediately turned around and conducted a search and rescue operation. About 45 min later, the man was retrieved from the water via lifeboat, and without serious injuries.
Most recently, in January, a passenger jumped from a balcony railing of Symphony of the Seas while the ship was in Port Nassau. RCI-Royal Caribbean issued a life-long ban on all ships of the fleet.
Carnival Fascination is currently on a 7-day voyage in the southern Caribbean with San Juan and Barbados as home ports. For other Carnival Fascination accidents and incidents see the ship's CruiseMinus page.
