Although scheduled to depart from LA-Long Beach CA Saturday afternoon, May 25, Carnival Splendor had to stay in port until Sunday afternoon due to a technical issue.
Carnival Splendor‘s guests were informed that the already-delayed departure had to be extended because Carnival's team continued to work on the issue that was impacting the maximum cruising speed of the vessel. A technician arrived Sunday morning to assist with the work that was needed.
The note to the passengers also said the ship would remain anchored while the crew completed the work and would depart as soon as they were finished. The plan was to operate a 2-port itinerary to Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. Due to the delay, it was necessary to cancel the visit to Mazatlan. Passengers will receive a US$50 per person credit to their sail & sign accounts. Related taxes, fees and shore trip expenses are being refunded.
After repairs were completed Sunday afternoon, Carnival Splendor set sail on her altered itinerary.
