On Monday (Memorial Day, May 27), Port Canaveral hosted 6 cruise vessels. Having 6 cruise ships in port on the same day has happened only twice before in port's 65-year history - in February and March 2015.
This time, Port Canaveral had to use North Cargo Berth 5 (cargo terminal) to accommodate one of the ships, since Port Canaveral's former Cruise Terminal 3 is torn down, while the new Cruise Terminal 3 is currently under construction.
According to Steve Linden, director of communications and public affairs, over 33,000 cruise passengers got on or off the 6 liners on Monday.
At the port of Port Canaveral on Monday were Carnival's Elation and Liberty; Disney's Dream; Norwegian's Dawn and Sun; Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. Norwegian Dawn was making a call at Port Canaveral, while the other 5 ships are homeported there.
