Saga Cruises marked the keel laying of its 2nd new cruise ship specially designed for the British market, Spirit of Adventure, via a ceremony at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg on Monday, June 3.
The 999-passenger vessel will set sail in summer 2020. The keel laying marked the official beginning of construction.
A commemorative coin stamped with the name of the ship, keel-laying date as well as the lettering S715, denoting the identification marker for the newbuild during her construction and until she is handed over by Meyer Werft to Saga Cruises in summer 2020, was placed under the first block in the dry dock.
A total of 54 blocks will create the 58,250 GT ship.
Spirit of Adventure will feature an overall length of 774.3 feet (236 meters) and a breadth of 102.4 feet (31 meters).
