The first of Saga Cruises's two new liners arrived in the UK for the first time Friday morning, June 28. MS Spirit of Discovery pulled into Port Dover ahead of its naming ceremony scheduled for the next week, when the Duchess of Cornwall is due to become vessel's ‘Godmother’.
It will be the only cruiser built and delivered exclusively for the British market in 2019 from Saga Group's cruise division. Sistership Spirit of Adventure is scheduled for inauguration in summer 2020, with over GBP 600 million investment in both units.
To create the vessels, Saga says they commissioned research with feedback that people did not want much bigger cruise ships and also wished a distinctly British experience, as well as to be challenged both onboard and ashore as they sail around the world.
