A 40-year-old German passenger has fallen from MSC Meraviglia into the Skagerrak between Norway and Denmark.
At 12:45 p.m. on Friday, July 5, the captain of the MSC Cruises ship triggered the emergency call. At the time of the emergency message, Meraviglia was about 30 km south of the Norwegian port of Kristiansand.
The Danish Air Force immediately sent helicopter "Rescue 510". In addition, German container freighter "Perseus", a yacht and fishing ships took part in the search.
According to the Norwegian rescue centre, the woman was helicoptered out of the water at around 2:55 p.m. and taken to Aalborg hospital.
Life-saving measures were unsuccessful. According to the cruise company, the woman suffered fatal injuries despite the speedy rescue.
At the time of the accident, the ship was on her way from the Norwegian fjords to Kiel.
