AmaMagna Officially Named in Austria

AmaWaterways christened its revolutionary newbuild riverboat - AmaMagna - in Grein, Austria on Thursday, July 11.

The official ceremony saw guests onboard joining AmaWaterways co-founders Kristin Karst and Rudi Schreiner along with Godmother Samantha Brown, Emmy Award-winning TV host and respected travel expert, as she named the 23rd vessel in the AMA fleet.

Honoring the long-standing tradition that originates over 4,000 years ago, a priest blessed the new ship and its crew while the Godmother broke a champagne bottle against the hull of AmaMagna, signifying good luck on the voyages ahead.

The new ship was welcomed by Grein Mayor Rainer Barth and a group of regional government and tourism representatives. Festivities included local entertainment celebrating Blue Danube Waltz, Sound of Music, Austrian singer Falco. After the regionally-inspired cocktails and gala dinner, guests were treated to a sun deck show with LED performers and fireworks.
