Passenger ferry shipping services between Hong Kong Sheung Wan and Macau was closed between midnight and early Monday morning, as the Marine and Water Bureau stated that the ferry terminal ‘was inappropriate for serving residents and passengers”.
Last night, chaos erupted in Sheung Wan when anti-government rioters clashed with police. According to the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) statement, since the Sheung Wan ferry terminal had temporarily not been suitable for tourists and locals to use, passenger ferry services from Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and Pac On Ferry Terminal to Sheung Wan ferry terminal had been “affected”.
The terminal is popular as Shun Tak Centre, and at one point, the protesters were outside its bus terminus. Sheung Wan Ferry Terminal resumed the first ferry service to Macau at 6 am, with the Macau side, starting ferry service to Sheung Wan at 6:15 am.
