Reflecting the company's Australian heritage, Scenic Cruises secured a series of original artworks from Mitch Gobel (an artist from , NSW Australia) to feature onboard the superyacht Scenic Eclipse.
Best known for his work in abstract resin, Gobel began experimenting with resin, among other materials and his practice evolved into a variety of mixed media. A trio of original artworks was commissioned and a selection of 124 prints chosen for display in all of the suites. Currently, Scenic Eclipse owns the largest collection of Mitch Gobel’s work.
The main pieces commissioned for Scenic Eclipse are part of The Melt collection – The Antarctic Peninsula, Costeria Amalfitana, and Raja Ampat.
Mitch Gobel has also collaborated with Greenpeace, creating a piece of resin art to represent Save the Reef campaign. His piece called ‘Poseidon, Protector of the Sea’ was created for the marine conservation organisation Sea Shepherd. Gobel is also an ambassador for Goongerah Environment Centre (GECO), dedicated to protecting the ancient forests in Gippsland, Victoria.
