The Florida-based Bahamas Paradise Cruise Lines offered Bahamians stranded by Dorian a way home. The company took first responders, supplies, and Bahamian evacuees in Florida to Grand Bahama Island on Thursday, September 5.
The Bahamas cruise company revealed that one of its vessels (Grand Celebration) would offer the chance for Bahamians to evacuate free of charge, given they had the proper documentation. The company added that the humanitarian voyage would be the first vessel allowed to dock at Freeport and would be delivering emergency personnel to Grand Bahama Island, such as firemen and electricians, in addition to supplies.
MS Grand Celebration (ship) was used for a similar relief effort for Hurricane Irma and acted as a base for Saint Thomas.
Bahamas Paradise is asking for specific items to be donated at the company's warehouse in Riveria Beach FL, as well as monetary resources via partnership with Mission Resolve Foundation.
