Carnival Cruise Line recently received from Miami-Dade County Commission approval for major expansion and renovation of "Terminal F" in PortMiami. The upgraded facility will be able to handle company’s new Excel/XL-class vessel Carnival Celebration (sistership of Mardi Gras) to be homeported here in 2022.
The redesigned terminal will allow Carnival to go on being the leader in the market, accommodating not just its newest and largest ships, but also allowing the company to bring its next LNG-powered liner to south Florida.
The first Excel-class Carnival cruise ship (Mardi Gras) will be delivered in August 2020 and homeported in Port Canaveral - following the inaugural cruises in Europe and from NYC New York.
When completed, Terminal F is expected to become PortMiami's 3rd cruise terminal dedicated to Carnival ships. The new agreement includes a commitment by the company to keep vessels at Terminal F for 20 years, with the option of two additional 7-year extensions.
Expansion plans are due to result in Terminal F being Carnival Cruise Line’s largest in North America. All renovations are scheduled for completion by October 2022 in order to welcome the Carnival Excel class cruise ship arriving late 2022.
