A fire broke out in Carnival Legend's engine room on Friday, September 20.
The passengers of the Alaskan voyage were awakened shortly after 7 am when the Captain called the crew over the ship's PA system. The crew managed to extinguish the fire quickly.
According to Carnival Cruise Line, the engine room fire was no danger to passengers. Ship's qualified firefighting crew take regularly fire drills and training in order to cope with such emergencies.
The liner Carnival Legend is completing a 9-day roundtrip from Vancouver (BC Canada), which began on September 17 and is scheduled to end on September 26. On the day of the accident, was scheduled Glacier Bay, and the scenic cruising was completed as planned. Followed the Alaskan ports Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan.
