Carnival Elation had set sail out of Port Canaveral for a 5-night voyage to Amber Cove Dominicana and Grand Turk on Saturday, September 21, when the liner started experiencing technical issues and had to alter its itinerary.
On Sunday evening, the ship's captain sent out a letter that explained the problem and revealed how it would impact the itinerary. He wrote they were experiencing an issue that was affecting the maximum cruising speed.
According to the letter, their team had been working through the night in order to complete the necessary work. The vessel was not able to call at Amber Cove and Grand Turk, as scheduled, and secured overnight in Nassau on Monday.
As a result of the itinerary change, passengers on the sailing received a US$100 onboard credit along with a 50% future cruise credit.
Carnival Elation is due back to Port Canaveral on Thursday, September 26.
