Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from a vessel of P&O Ferries at Port Dover England Saturday morning, September 28, after a suspicious package was found on the ship.
After the discovery on the 6:40 am crossing, police bomb disposal experts rushed to the accident scene. All passengers and crew members had to be evacuated amid fears over the nature of the package. Images posted on Twitter showed how the major ferry port was blocked off with dozens of police officers.
According to a P&O Ferries spokesman, a suspicious package had been found on one of their ships Saturday morning, and the authorities were in attendance, with all passengers and non-essential crew evacuated as a precaution.
Passengers on the canceled 6:40 am and 7:25 am departures were allocated to other crossings. There were delays of ~2 hours on the Dover-Calais routes.
