Salcombe Gin’s brand new and as-yet-unnamed product is to be produced, bottled and labeled on board P&O Cruises' new ship Iona, scheduled to launch in May 2020.
Gins produced in a 450-liter copper “still” will be inspired by cruise liner’s various ports of call and served across the entire P&O fleet. Salcombe Gin will offer passengers two classes, where they can learn about the spirit as well as or devise their own recipe and try different products.
P&O Iona is currently under construction at Meyer Werft's shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The vessel is LNG-powered and with passenger capacity 5200 - making the current;y largest cruise liner built specifically the UK cruising market.
